America FC United

Background

With Quincy as their home base, America FC United prides itself on providing young soccer players in Mass a place to learn and play soccer by developing their skills and prepare them to play against competitive club teams throughout the state and beyond. They try to make the club affordable for most families and try very hard to minimize expenses.

Players with America FC are put on teams based on their age and skill level. Teams play other league teams and in various tournaments throughout the season(s). Players are expected to have a minimum level of participation, attend training sessions and games. This is a premier team so each player must earn their spot.

The club is a serious one for hard workers yet they are willing to work with you to help you achieve all you can be on the field; many players have conflicting private school soccer commitments during certain times of the year. America FC will work with players during such conflicts – communication is the key!

America FC United plays in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL).

  1. By far one of the best clubs for player development. I have seen so many children come to the club and excel in skill development. It is very noticeable one the players who are eligible go back to their respective town travel teams tryouts and are now ranked higher than their counterparts from the previous year. This is completely attributed to the skills training form America FC. This is philosophy embraced by all their coaches.

how much does it cost for hs age players who play only in the winter and spring including games

    1. The cost for HS players is $490

  3. Maldini fonseca says:

i want to play soccer i don’t know how to go to the try out. just let me know if u guys want me to go there and play soccer please call me

  4. We have been around America FC for about 4 years now and I am a complete believer in the individual player development system. Already AFC has had 7 to 8 kids on Massachusetts Olympic Development Teams and 1 player in the Region 1 national team program. As well, AFC is very reasonable cost, and they make it so everyone can play and try to get a team for every player that tries out. As well, their director of coaching played for the Antiguan National Team and has an A License and National Youth License (Highest licenses you can have).

The focus of the club is based on individual player development instead of on team development from ages 6 to 12. This may hurt some of the team records for these age groups as most other teams focus on tactics and that gives them an advantage in games. AFC also believes in players getting roughly equal playing time, as there is no better way to develop than in games. While they may not win every game, I routinely see AFC teams with the best players on the field and they are doing things that you don’t see from other teams. This does however require a specific mindset as you have to buy into this philosophy, so it is not for everyone, if you are ultra competitive and believe that winning at these ages at all cost is all that matters you should go somewhere else.

AFC switches to a more competitive model when the kids reach u14s, but still retains the player development roots. You can see the success of this model as the older AFC teams have been continuously moving up in the leagues they play and how the skills they learned at the younger ages translates to beautiful soccer when they are older. AFC’s has not had any players age out yet as they are only in their 6th year, but have already had 7 players make the Massachusetts Olympic Development Team, and 1 player on the Region 1 national team. You continue to notice that the best players on the field are on the AFC team.

Overall it is a great club, nice people, good coaches and is focused on developing each player. I would not have my kids go anywhere else.

  5. Fantastic Club! AFC focuses on the long term development of the players. Young players are taught skill development and are encouraged to use their skill in game. its great to see U10 players using step overs, scisors, Ronaldo’s and other moves in a game to get around oposing players sucessfully. The coaches are great, professional and know how to motivate the kids without yelling at them. The cost is reasonable, more than reasonable when you look at other clubs. And its not about where your kids train, its about how your kids train

    1. The 2 comments here say the cost is reasonable, but I’m unable to find pricing on their website. What is the cost of the academy and what is the cost of it if you make one of their teams?

      1. I believe it is $690 this year (’13-’14) and includes fall, winter futsal, and spring if you are on a team. There are also training only options.

      2. Academy is $160 a season. Cost for making a team is $690, which covers all three seasons

  6. Can’t think of a better club for my kids. Low cost and focused on development of individual ball skills, creative mastery and small sided games at a young age (as actually recommended by U.S. Youth Soccer). Long-term player development approach of this club is hard to find as so many clubs seem to be counting on player size and ability to run fast in a straight line and kick the ball hard to get them the next win. Not a club for instant gratification junkies.
