Blackhawks Soccer Club

Background

Founded in 1995, Blackhawks Soccer Club aims to provide an environment in which competitive players in the Bridgewater, Mass area could better develop and fine tune their soccer skills; the club plays some of the best teams in Massachusetts.

The Blackhawks have been expanding rapidly ever since current owner and former player, Ana Moniz, assumed ownership in 2009.

Teams train twice a week (during the fall and spring seasons) and games are played on Sundays – which is very typical of other soccer clubs in Mass; there is also elective strength and conditioning training offered once a week. Additional training programs include goal keeper training.

The Blackhawks teams play in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL).

Club Composition

The growth of the girls program has resulted in 10 girl teams from U10 – U18; and there is also a U9 academy team. Teams train in the fall, spring, and winter sessions; in addition to NSL games they also participate in indoor winter leagues along with tournaments throughout the year.

Blackhawks Soccer Club started a boys program in Spring of 2013 and they are expanding into additional age brackets as folks tryout.

Tournaments

Blackhawks participate in the Scorpion Bowl, Seacoast Tournament and the Needham Memorial Day Tournament (NMDT).

  1. very frustrating, my child is very unhappy after every practice, and he has always loved going to practice. very poorly coached, NO communication with families and NO progress whatsoever.

Agreed!! My family wants to pull out now. Our son hates it.

My daughter has played for this club for a few years. I’m fortunately I do not think she is progressing as much as other players her age. The style of soccer that they play is very direct and could be considered Kick and run. The coach of my daughter’s team is a very nice guy however I feel like his soccer knowledge is limited. My daughter’s team works extremely hard but they are learning very little.

  3. The club has terrible organization and communication. Most teams are coached by town coaches and I see club teams in the area getting much better than our team. I realize now that my family made a poor decision. Do not recommend this club to anyone. It’s kind of a joke.

Our family is moving on in the spring

Although we had moved to another club this past year, our daughter’s experience with the Blackhawks organization over the previous 3 years was tremendous. Contrary to previous comment, we found the Blackhaks to have good coaching and player development. The Blackhawks gave our daughter the skill and knowledge to move onto better competition. Not every club organization strives to be the best in the area but merely exists to give kid’s the skills and experience needed to compete at a higher level than your ordinary town program. We highly recommend their program and wish them much success in the future.
