My son had a great 4 years with this club ahead of its merger into the Bolts & Scorpions. He now plays on the Bolts Academy and the transition was smooth. The club was a great family club with the only issue that their path to exposure was not as high as the Bolts. The transition was a great idea.

I read some of the negative comments from others and I must say that I disagree. I don’t know when they are from but currently we are very satisfied with the FC Spartans. I have an older son that has played for several clubs and I’ve seen good and bad clubs. Now his 12 year old brother is playing for the Spartans and I already see a big improvement. He works hard at practice, they are focused and serious, he comes home exhausted but with a big smile on his face. He is certainly developing his playing ability. We both feel that the best part of the program is his coach, he is knowledgeable and fair and communicates well with the players.

This is not a true club soccer organization. I agree with the other comments. Major internal communication issues and we left the club mid-season. They only want you money and the player development is very weak. I wished I researched this club more before I paid!!!!! If you were lucky enough to read this comment definitely go elsewhere to anther club or you will become an “paid victim with no chance of being reimbursed. Also, the latest rumor is the club maybe folding next year due to internal issues…

Have to agree with the previous posts. Because of the inner turmoil and turnover of coaches they are not able to keep players. With players of all calibre typically moving to other clubs in the area i.e. Abbey Villa, JSSA etc.

Their enthusiasm and lip service about player development, especially to get kids into their Academy program, disintegrates when players get into the U10 and above age groups. They have difficulty keeping enough kids to field more than a single team in the older age categories.

Better off looking for Clubs that are in the top 5-10 and have multiple teams in multiple age groups in leagues like MAPLE, NEP etc as measurement to determine the if Club truly believe in development not just $$$, which this one definitely does not.

No player development. A lot of internal personnel issues exist within this club. We should have researched the FC Spartans morale closely before going with this club as many members are very unhappy with how this club operates. We have already made departure plans to move to a different club next year along with a lot of other current members.

  6. Coaching and communication issues exist with this club. The Spartan personnel are worried about getting your money up front and won’t give refunds if you leave the team – no matter what. In my opinion it’s all about the money to them and not player development. Next year we will be looking for a new club so be careful when choosing this club!!!

This club is terrible and they have no development for the kids….go to a larger club like the Boston Breakers…all they want is your money be aware

  8. Terrible club. Poor coaching and development. Don’t play for them if you’re planning to play in college.

The FC Spartans is a fast-growing small club with incredible spirit, energy, and professionalism. My son has worked hard to improve his skills under the guidance of mature and challenging coaches who are also validating and supportive. The practices are focused and serious. Individual weaknesses are addressed with education and reinforced through drills and feedback. The coaches are fair about playing time and make each player feel important to the team, even if they are not the strongest on the team. On the other hand, they expect the best from each player. The only weakness that I have experienced with the FC Spartans is the lack of consistent, local training space. Practice fields seem to change frequently.

I agree with your post, your comments were spot on. I have an older son that has played for a few different clubs, I have seen good and bad clubs. Now his 12 year old brother is playing for the FC Spartans and already I see a big improvement. The practices are focused and serious, he comes home exhausted but with a big smile on his face. Yes, as you say individual weaknesses are addressed with education and reinforced through drills and feedback. His current coach is fantastic and does a great job communicating with the players. I read some bad reviews from others, not sure when they are from, but I can say with confidence that so far we are very happy with the club. 5/19/2015

My son has become an outstanding, confident, skilled player because of Spartans training. The goal tending training is superior.
