1. This is about the boys side only. A joke of a club. I wasted a year and a half of my son’s time with this club. The girls side does have some success but the boys have no coaching philosophy. This club is all about politics and connections rather than talent and substance. They do not develope talent and hardly coach. You will often have coach tardy or not show up at all. They put some effort into the so called elite teams but they are even limited. The owner of the club is an , miserable tyrant who puts little effort into PR. If you aren’t in the inner cirlcle of this club you will never get a fair look. To be fair there are some talented coaches mostly on the girls side. Though they tend to lose good coach to better clubs. If you are serious about developing your child I would not choose this club. There are many clubs these days so I would choose one that at least developed talent and at least cares about your business. This club in my opinion will be out of business in 5 years max!

2. Overall: This club is a good club. It has a very good group of people with better than good hearts behind the scenes and like any club it is costly to play ‘club soccer’ Any club you join should be treated like a place you want to enjoy and the experience will be better and more complete and healthy for your child. You are paying for this BUT were invited and will be asked to leave it you don’t fit – same as any club same as your neighbors house.

   Younger Age Groups: Excellent in development of these as the training elevates all not some of the players games

   Middle/Elder Age Groups: Not most highly sought club but making inroads on boy’s side and has ECNL/NPL on girls side which is a draw only second to those teams from the FC Stars. Seems to be growing although not as fast as others as there are a lot of options withing reach of Braintree.

   Facilites: are currently pretty poor rented from where ever but it’s about what your kid puts in not how polished the turf is or how manicured the grass. A mom an pop (I think most pop) club that has a partnership now ith Breakers and commercial or not that will help.

5. This club is all about money..jot about growing good players. the older the kids get the more apparent it is they learn nothing here.

6. They call this a soccer league! OMG after years of our kids here..their teams still cant play. Terrible coaches…if you can actually call them that. its all about money here…play as little as possible, play all over earth, and the only thing improving is the bankroll for the club. One big family business? try and find a referee or coach in shape! save your money. organize a neighborhood game. I cant even bare to attend games anymore…watching is so painful!

7. The Club is Very Expensive. You would think for that type of money the Coach would show up for the Games. Twice this year the Coach was a no show. Once She had a conflict and was sending another Coach in the program. A NO SHOW two Mothers had to coach the Team. It was never addressed no apology. no explanation. Another time she sent her Sister nobody knew She wasn’t coming?

9. let me tell you something about this club. First of all they don’t care about talent as long as you run around with your head cut off and play “aggressive” you will make elite. Does not matter if you cannot kick the ball with one foot, never mind both. Don’t worry if you don’t know your position just run and hit. This coach Andy that she talked about was supposed to be my daughters coach but we declined as well as 30 other girls,so now there are only 2 u11 girls teams instead of 4. From 56 girls trying out they got 2 teams with all girls being asked to play. Good luck to anyone playing for the Breakers Academy oops I meant scorpions.

   1. For those who didn’t get placed on the top 2 u11 teams they went else where and that’s fine if your not selected on the top team and leave. Only one person declined the premier team and one new addition. Very happy with scorpions. You’ll find flaws with every c lub.

10. i was with this team since i was in the pool at around age 9, i was on elite for a year but got placed down to premier for the rest of my years. i stopped at u15 because i had just a horrible experience. my team was promised Katie but we came to find out we had some newbie fresh out of college who knew none of us and she knew nothing. she then got fired or “let go”, no one was sure. But she got replaced with another new coach Andy. I went from playing almost all game every game, to maybe 10 minutes a half, not even in the position i always played in. We then lost a game 0-7 and he bamed everything on us, not even considering his lack of coaching skills. he then slaved us into a practice that ended with a girl crying and going home, near fainting and throwin up, forced laybor with more punishment if you didnt do it. he forced us to do sprints the entire time with little breaks. after however many sprints we were forced, hed ask a question “how much did you lose by?”. if someone was to answer, there would be more and more and more sprints to the point were you collapse. he didnt talk to us on the side lines, yelled at us when we did things wrong. it was not a good experience. only good coach was Katie but shes gone now. club only pays attention to the top teams. hated the camps. they dont care for the players, only the money and winning.

11. just because you join a club does not mean winning soccer. player development is good but if your not a premier or elite, your team will be losing more than not. sounds like the director responding to the negatives. I have seen some good and a lot of bad. your child will develop but be ready for headaches. i know quite a few with very bad experiences and for ourselves not all bad but have I learned how to deal with cancellations, poor field conditions constant changing of schedules, “when you plan your calendar do it in pencil”.(really reaching with the pele” grape fruit thing, we’re gonna start doing that next. anyway not club bashing because there are some benefits like the reason our children are there to begin with. friendships, team work developing in the game they love. As A seasoned parent I can say buyer beware. talk to other folks, ask questions and be ready for some of the answers to be misleading.

    1. My experience with clubs has been the same as you describe at the 3 largest girls clubs in mass which we have been with. All of them are average from top to bottom, Each make the same mistakes as the other. Promote the well coached & trained teams 10% on average, do not talk about ok coaches & training 90% on average. 12. Scorpions have merged with the Boston Breakers! Check out the websites of either organization for more details. The merger applies to the whole club–girls teams and boys teams. A tremendous partnership.

13. Scorpions players typically train 3 times a week with games on Saturdays or Sundays depending on which league a team plays in. For the 2013/2014 season, the boys program will train from July until December. After a short break the club will train from January until June. In addition to the outdoor Fall and Spring leagues, Scorpions has also been playing in winter indoor leagues and futsual leagues to increase touches on the ball.

14. We are on the boys side for about 4-5 years and have had a great experience with Scorpions. Great training sessions; great group of parents; and a dedicated group of coaches. The boys’ program has grown a lot over the last 5 years and with that growth comes growing pains as the club adjusts its ways. The club trains primarily on the Thayer Academy turf fields and at Braintree South and East Middle Schools. As clubs go, it is very affordable.

    The top teams on the boys side play in the New England Premiership, Region 1 and beyond. At the younger age groups, the program is very focused on developing skills and passing rather than winning games. As the boys get older, more advanced concepts are introduced.

    Scorpions is in my view the best club option on the Route 3 corridor South of Boston.

    1. you forgot to mention your not allowed to wear Scorpions gear at the Braintree facilities as to not upset the Braintree residents.

My daughter and son played for the Scorpiions for several years and since Keith Caldwell has left the club has been below average at best. they seem to only care about the ECNL teams and all other teams are about the money. The coaching is not very deep once you get past the top 2 coaches on both the girls and boys side as opposed to the NEFC or the FC Stars and other clubs. The facilities they practice at are in horrible condition in Braintree with the exception of Thayer. Their Summer camp is at one of the schools on a field with dead grass and is very poorly run with no real trainng to speak of. it’s really to bad to watch what was once such a good club become below average, what ever Caldwell was getting paid he was worth it, he was always responsive to calls and E Mails.

    1. I disagree with your assessment, which is way too harsh. A number of great players who now play on national teams and in the MLS practiced on the same fields. Pele kicked grapefruits on patches of dirt in far worse shape. If your kid really wants to play, they won’t care whether they are playing on high-grade turf or bumpy fields. Scorpions is a solid program, and the comments above are off base.

16. blah, blah, blah, no I don’t hate this club but i HEAR more stories of just nuts over / down (?) there; then i hear rumors of either them buying a club or being bought by a club – just seems so unsecure. I’m happy i never committed to ths club!

    1. This poster’s comments are based on nothing more than rumors. The poster doesn’t even belong to the club, so her comments really have no basis in fact. Scorpions is a terrific club. It has a proven track record. It is one of only two clubs in Massachusetts on the girls side that competes at the ECNL. On the boys side, its U14 team just won the State Cup for the second year in a row. It is by far the strongest club on the South Shore.

17. Be careful with this club. Know who the coach is before you commit. They hired a girl out of college who never coached before and couldn’t relate to kids. She was demeaning to many girls on the team, swore during games, and gave negative comments during practices. Not someone who you want your kid coached by after all the $$ you spend on this club. The club leader ignored everything. Very disappointing. We pulled our kid out too halfway through. Other coaches are better. Beware. Get background info. on the coaches before you register! You have to fight for a refund.

    1. Not our experience by any stretch of the imagination in more than 4 years with the club. Great club.

18. Terible club – I pulled my kid halfway through. Player development is horrible especially when you consider how much they charge. They club leader is a tyrant and egomaniac.

    1. The club leader is actually not a bad guy, just needs to lear to be a little more personable like some of his top coaches.

    2. Serious club soccer is a good fit for some and not for others. If you want top notch training with a club that is playing at the highest levels of youth soccer then Scorpions is the place to be. To say that it is horrible at player development when it has developed players who play at WNT and who play at dozens of Division I programs is just plain inaccurate. Likewise to call the club leader names says more about you than it does him.
