Victoria FC Soccer

Background

The Victoria FC (Victoria Futebol Club) soccer club is based in Norwood, Mass; this soccer club is relatively new to the scene.

The club started about four years ago. Players practice twice a week, a game and one tournament in the fall. In the winter they practice twice a week and focus on foot skills. In the spring, they also practice twice a week, play one game and participate in the Needham Memorial Tournament.

A hand-picked select team competes in a regional Showcase Tournament after the season.

The club’s goal is to develop players who can succeed as soccer players, while balancing family, school and other sports.

Victoria FC teams play in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL).

Guess what?

Victoria FC is not related to, or have any association with Vitoria FC.

Club Composition

They used to have a few teams in the Victoria FC soccer club: Girls U15 and Girls U14.

They will be combining these two into one team and there will be no tryouts – simply asking select folks back.

The head coach for Victoria FC Soccer is John Goncalves. John has more than 25 years of coaching experience with boys and girls. His teams have won the MTOC State Championship, Boys 2009 and Girls 2011.

John was the soccer clinician at the Ponds of Norwood; the Norwood High School boy’s assistant coach; and Norwood High School’s girl’s associate head coach. John played Semi-Pro soccer for ten years.

Club fees are ~ $1,200; great value for a soccer club in Massachusetts; uniforms may be extra.

  1. Great staff. John is a wonderful coach. We have two girls in the program on different teams and he and the rest of the staff (Marty- manager; Frankie- goalie coach) have developed their games immensely. John has a firm, no-nonsense, but caring approach that the girls respond to. The focus is on player development and the training program is excellent. Value is great for a Massachusetts club. In addition, all the girls (and parents) are well trained in sportsmanship and it is a pleasure to be around them (which is definitely not true for all club teams).

  2. The coaching staff is awesome! My daughter loves playing for Victoria FC and has improved her skills greatly. I highly recommend this ckub

  3. Great coaching staff and program! Very reasonable fees. Highly recommend this club.

  4. What is the deal with the name? “Victoria FC Soccer”? Not only is the team NOT named after Norwood, but it’s given the suffix “FC” and “Soccer”? Is this club trying to mimic a European soccer club, instead of carve out it’s own identity?

    1. Why are you even commenting on this? Relax. The game didnt originate in ‘MERICA! Who cares what they call it.

  5. John’s just the best, built this club up over the years from really nothing. Has paid his dues in the area and has great network of people helping out.

    I’d recommend Victoria!
