Melrose United FC

Background

Melrose United is a relatively new and small premier soccer clubs based in Melrose, Mass; the club is operated by current Melrose High School varsity coaches. The club is a great value as low cost, smaller club atmosphere with attention given to individual players and experienced coaching.

The club was designed to foster a passion for soccer in Melrose by allowing soccer players to develop the skills necessary to compete at the highest level and realize their full athletic potential. They teach “wins and lessons” rather than “wins and losses” as it allows players to be daring risk-takers who learn from all of their experiences.

Melrose United teams play in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL).

Club Composition

Teams in Melrose United are currently just boys in the U10 – U14 age groups.

Club fees are ~ $900 when you factor in the three sessions of the winter plus fall and spring; a very reasonable rate considering some of the more costly clubs in Mass.

Camps/Clinics

Melrose United offers a summer skills clinic with a couple of sessions as options; runs from about mid-July through the end of August; each session is $75. For more information please see the Melrose United site.

Youth Academy

New (Spring 2014) to Melrose United is an Academy program for U10 players in a fun, non-competitive environment. Academy training sessions will take place Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

What’s covered here? Individual techniques such as first touch, passing, receiving, and shooting. Instruction on team tactics will include 3 man attack, defensive pressure, cover and balance.

The Melrose United Academy cost is $100.
